These are non-negotiables; you should start with this list, then add as needed.
Electric
- Surge Protector
- 15 amp extension cord
- 30 amp dogleg (if you have a 50 amp rig)
- 30 to 15amp dogleg if you want to mooch dock
Water
- Water pressure valve- is a must, as you don’t know what the campground water pressure will be, and you do not want to blow out any of your water lines.
- An inline water filter, in addition to the one that may be installed on your rig. You attach this to the water hose either at the spigot or at your rig. Just helps keep sediment from coming into your rig. Besides, the double filtration helps with mineral buildup.
- Water hose designated for fresh water, make sure when you purchase a hose, it states that it is suitable for drinking water!
- 2nd hose designated for tank flushing, if your rig has this option
- 3rd hose with nozzle for washing things down
- Water valve splitter, I find this helpful, so I am not removing my water hose when I want to wash the rig or hose down my patio.
Sewer-Black tank
- Sewer hose-I would suggest having 20ft of hose with clear 45 fittings, best to have two 10ft hoses.
- Fitting to place in the sewer hole to fit the hose connection to keep it in place and secure. A donut is a good fitting to have on hand if you encounter a sewer connection where your other fitting will not work.
- A sewer hose ladder to keep the hose off the ground. Many campgrounds will not allow the hose to be left on the ground; it may be a city/county ordinance, and it is not a good idea, as rocks can puncture the hose. Also, it will help with the flow when emptying your tanks.
- A designated place or container to store your sewer hose.
- End caps for your sewer hose.
TIP: Always drain the black tank first, followed by the gray tank, followed by flushing your black tank. Flush your tank until it runs clear!! This can be accomplished by filling the tank halfway, then emptying it. You will do this several times; don’t be in a hurry. This will help you keep your tank clean and avoid nasty orders!
- Every time you empty your black tank, be sure to put some treatment (I like Liquify) in the toilet following directions. (There are many choices, but this has worked for me and others)
- You will want to purchase some disposable gloves or have a designated pair that you use only for this function.
- Wheel Chocks
TIP: Keep paper towels, or a rag in your wet bay, you can thank me later! Also, when at a dump station and there is a hose, never use it to put potable water in your fresh water tank!!!!! Many people will use this hose to clean their sewer hose out!!!!!!
